The elegant bird carved of fine quality lapis lazuli from Afghanistan flecked with pyrite with diamond inset eyes and jasper beak. His head and tail feathers are adorned with 18K yellow gold feathers, while the "eyes" of the feathers are represented by inset yellow gold embellishments each highlighted with a cabochon sapphire and a circle of small diamonds. The majestic fowl appears to strut across a landscape of "field grasses" evoked by the radiating sprays of calcite clusters on the matrix base.
