An intense, vivid pink, cushion cut sapphire is featured in this amazing pin. It is of substantial size weighing 21.49 carats, has excellent clarity and is extremely brilliant. It is accompanied by Gemological Institute of America Identification Report #17236532 and American Gemological Laboratories Report #CS62619, the latter of which states its origin as Sri Lanka. This considerably rare sapphire is collection worthy on its own.
The sapphire is set in a "Dolphin" brooch, designed by Sonia Younis, circa 1969, and signed "Tiffany & Co."
Pave-set diamonds in a dolphin motif, with polished gold gills and fins and emerald cabochon eyes surround the pink sapphire. The diamonds are fine and white. Tiny emeralds and sapphires further embellish the piece. The setting is very beautifully and heavily constructed of 18k yellow gold and platinum. It is a fine example of the exquisite quality and craftsmanship for which Tiffany and Co. is known. It can be worn as a brooch or a pendant.
