This elegant ring features an antique, mother-of-pearl Chinese gambling counter dating back to the 18th Century. The square gaming counter is set in a beautifully engraved 18k yellow gold frame. 18k yellow gold accents adorn the sterling silver band in a design that is versatile, comfortable and can be worn with casual or dressy attire!
Originally carved in China for export to Britain, gaming counters were used like we would use poker chips. Each was engraved by hand with exquisite detail; different sizes and shapes were made to represent different denominations. These are original counters that we have made into an elegant line of jewelry we call our "Eastern Gates Collection." Each gaming counter is original and unique.
The designs in this collection were inspired by the architecture of ancient China; each gaming counter is set in hand-engraved 18k yellow gold with brightly polished silver (and/or blackened silver). The pieces all complement each other beautifully and are perfect for wearing alone or mixing and matching in various combinations. Wonderful conversation pieces that display beautiful craftsmanship, rich history, and a lasting appreciation of art! Handcrafted by our jewelers in Los Angeles.
This ring measures 1/2"x 1/2" square and comes with 2 black ceramic stacking bands that can be worn with this ring for a bolder, more dramatic look that also complements additional pieces in the Eastern Gates Collection.
Please refer to the history of the gaming counter shown alongside our additional photographs of this ring.
